<p>Just in time for the holiday season, the Gibson International Charitable Foundation has distributed <strong>$15,000</strong> to local charitable initiatives. The foundation is directed and supported by the agents at Gibson International, a high-quality real estate brokerage based in Brentwood, Calif.</p>
<p>The 26 local nonprofits receiving funds this year include: A.I.D.S. Project LA, Alzheimer’s Association, Boys &amp; Girls Club of Venice, Clare Foundation, Disabled American Veterans, Dream Street Foundation, Doheny Eye Institute, Gay &amp; Lesbian Elder Housing (GLEH), Guide Dogs of America, Heal The Bay, Heart Touch Project, Hope Veterinary Center, Lupus L.A., Meals on Wheels, NextStep Fitness, Inc., People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), A Place Called Home, Richstone Family Center, Social Justice Learning Institute, Sojourn, Tower Cancer Research Foundation, United States Adaptive Recreation Center, Upward Bound House, Venice Family Clinic, Virginia Avenue Project, and the YWCA Santa Monica/Westside.</p>
<p>The Gibson International Foundation committee, chaired by broker Tina L. Cameron, meets regularly to discuss the needs of the community and direct resources to programs that improve the well-being of individuals and families throughout greater Los Angeles. According to Tina, “Our focus is on local non-profits. Our agents are determined to make an impact and collectively, we are making a real difference through these awards. We intend this to be an annual cycle of giving by the Gibson International Foundation, and are excited about the impact our grants will make during the years to come.”</p>
<p>At Gibson International, community service is at the core of its values. The funds are a result of direct donations by the agents, including commission rebates, as well as fundraising events. Established in 2009, the Foundation’s initial goal was to raise at least $25,000 before dispersing grants.</p>
<p>“During these challenging economic times, many non-profit organizations are struggling. We are so proud of our agents and staff, who are incredibly philanthropic and give from the heart,” says Scott L. Gibson, president and founder of Gibson International. “Most of them direct a portion of commissions to the fund. Others have organized events like our bowling night, and we also have had toy drives, coat drives and a back-to-school clothing drive this fall. On behalf of all the agents and staff, I would like to congratulate the 26 charities who received funds this year.”</p>
<p>“As a company we believe it is important to address the pressing social &amp; financial needs of our communities. Through our foundation’s grant program and its commitment, we will continue to provide funds to help the less fortunate,” Gibson added.</p>

We will be giving gifts cards to Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC) again this year: They need cards for small amounts for places such as food stores, pharmacies or any other basic staple store. Amounts of $10 or $20 or anything you feel you want to do would be fabulous. (End Date: December 5th)</p>
<p>2. We will be giving gifts to needy children through the Heartfelt Foundation. The gifts should be for kids from infant to teenagers (so don’t forget the older kids). They can be toys, stuffed animals, clothes, bedding; anything you want. They should be new (not used) and not wrapped. (End Date: December 12th)</p>
<p>3. One more way to help: We will be collecting used clothing, shoes, blankets, coats or other items you can part with that will be donated to the “Skid Row Project” again this year. These items will be handed out to those in need on Christmas Eve again this year. They love warm men’s, woman’s and children’s items.(End Date: December 23rd)</p>

<p>Gibson International is hosting a back-to-school drive to collect new  and gently used children’s clothing and new school supplies to help the  youth served by the Mar Vista Family Center in Culver City start the  school year off in supplied and in style.  The clothing must be clean,  practical, wearable and in good condition.</p>
<p>Currently there is a  great need for new and gently used children’s clothing and shoes for  newborns through age five and for stylish but serviceable school clothes  and shoes for youth age six through 18.  The Mar Vista Family Center  also offers a young leadership program for ages 13 through 24, whose  members need professional-looking attire for internships and leadership training programs.</p>
<p>Studies  show that children who have appropriate school clothing feel more  confident and have better self esteem, leading to higher levels of  achievement.</p>
<p>“Helping families is at the core of our business,”  says Scott L. Gibson, president and founder of Gibson International.   “In that spirit, the agents at Gibson International have dedicated  themselves to community efforts that support families and children.”</p>
<p>“Helping  children prepare for school involves more than just textbooks and  school supplies,” adds Pat Heller, general manager and partner at Gibson  International.  “Kids need appropriate clothing to ensure they are  ready to learn.</p>
<p>Clothing, shoes and school supplies for all ages can be dropped at the Gibson International  office at 11538 San Vicente Blvd. in Brentwood, weekdays from 8  a.m. to  5 p.m. through Wednesday, August 31. To capitalize on synergies between the two companies, top producing agents from Gibson International networked with HK Lane sales associates at an all-office meeting.  The Gibson International agent attendees specialize in tony LA neighborhoods such as Brentwood,  Bel-Air and Beverly Hills; all key desert vacation- home buyer markets. </p>
